Zeebrugge

Connected to historical mother town Brugge by a 12 km long canal, Zeebrugge is a seaside resort that focuses on the future. At this moment Zeebrugge is constructing an impressive world harbour that will reach far into the sea. However, this will not affect the beach tourism, which mainly evolves around the pleasant family beach. By the beach promenade you will find hotels and cafes who will give the holiday makers a hospitable welcoming.

The largest fisherman harbour

As largest fisherman harbour of Belgium, Zeebrugge counts a large number of typical fish shops. Besides a passenger dock with regular ferry-services to England, Zeebrugge also has a marina, providing a docking space to about 100 pleasure yachts. The fairly limited amount of sights and recreation possibilities is highly compensated by the excellent location of Zeebrugge. At a few kilometres distance from the beautiful Brugge, the mundane Knokke and the picturesque Lissewege.

A peace of history

The harbour of Zeebrugge has been extended since 1977. To access ships with a larger tonnage, the construction of a new sea-lock and a new inner harbour was started. But the tourism has not been forgotten. Together with the construction of the harbour, Zeebrugge is improving the beach (embankment of the beach profile) and there is a large marina planned between the eastern dike and the beach of Heist.
